Overview
This policy applies to the SpeedAccu Android app (package ID com.speedaccu.internetspeedtest) and this privacy-policy website. SpeedAccu measures your connection by exchanging test traffic with a measurement server. The app does not require an account. The app displays ads through Google AdMob and uses Google's User Messaging Platform to manage ad privacy choices where required.
Advertising and ad privacy
SpeedAccu uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to show interstitial ads after the first-run introduction and at some completed-test transitions. The SDK may collect and share your IP address, app interactions (such as launches, taps and ad views), diagnostic information, and device identifiers, including the Android advertising ID when available. Google uses this information for advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention. The SDK transmits this data with encryption. See Google's Mobile Ads data disclosure and Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Where required, a Google consent message asks for your ad privacy choices before ad requests. If a privacy options control is required for your region, you can reopen it through Settings → Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your Android advertising ID in your device's privacy settings. If an ad is unavailable or ad requests are not allowed, the app continues to work without that ad.
We do not give Google your saved speed-test history, custom server URL, or app settings for ad targeting. The Google Mobile Ads SDK can collect its own usage and diagnostic data as described above.
Data on your device
The app reads whether your device is connected and the general connection type, such as Wi-Fi or mobile data. It does not request location access or read your Wi-Fi network name.
SpeedAccu stores completed test results on your device, including the time, server name, connection type, ping, jitter, download and upload speeds, and data used. It also stores your settings: speed unit, mobile-data permission for tests, data-saver choice, and any custom server URL you enter. This information is stored in the app's local database and preferences. The app does not upload your saved history or settings to us.
Android app backup and device-transfer extraction are disabled for the app's data. Your local data stays until you clear test history in the app, change settings, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Clearing history deletes saved test results; it does not change your settings.
What a speed test sends
When you start a test, SpeedAccu sends HTTPS requests and test data to the selected measurement server to measure latency, download speed, and upload speed. The server necessarily receives your public IP address and the test requests and upload traffic. Your network provider can also observe that you connected to the server and the amount of traffic.
The app's built-in server is Cloudflare Speed Test. Cloudflare explains its handling of speed-test data on its Speed Test page and in its privacy policy. If you enter a custom HTTPS server under Settings, that server's operator receives the test traffic and may handle it under its own privacy practices. SpeedAccu does not control a custom server's logging or retention.
The app does not send your locally saved test history or settings to the measurement server. A speed test can use a substantial amount of network data; the app offers a data-saver setting and requires you to allow testing on mobile data.
Your choices and deletion
- You can use the app without creating an account.
- You can select a custom HTTPS measurement server and turn on data saver in Settings.
- You can prevent tests on mobile data unless you choose to allow them.
- You can delete saved results using Clear test history in the app. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes the app's locally stored data from your device.
- Where available, you can review ad privacy choices in Settings. Android also provides advertising ID controls in device settings.
We cannot view or delete data that is stored only on your device. For data held by a measurement server or Google, contact the relevant operator under its privacy policy.
